About Paul Sack:
Paul has been collecting black-and-white photography for 32 years. The collection now includes more than 2,800 works, each of which has somewhere within it a building that could be owned or leased—a nod to his career as an investor in real estate (of mostly other people’s money). Approximately 1,000 of his photographs are in a Supporting Trust for SFMOMA, and the others will go to SFMOMA upon Paul’s demise.
He is also interested in economic development and spent two years living in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where he was Country Director for the Peace Corps. He was subsequently, for two years, on the staff of the Peace Corps in Washington, DC, where he was Director of Planning and Programming. Upon his return to San Francisco, he enrolled at the University of California at Berkeley, where he received a Ph.D. in the political economy of development.He also has A.B. and M.B.A. degrees from Harvard College and Harvard Business School respectively.
About Corey Keller:
Corey Keller is curator of photography at SFMOMA. During her sixteen-year tenure at the museum, she has organized numerous exhibitions and publications, including Brought to Light: Photography and the Invisible, 1840–1900 (2008), Francesca Woodman (2011); and About Time: Photography in a Moment of Change (2016), among many others. Current projects include the first survey of the nineteenth-century photographer John Beasley Greene (Fall 2019) as well as a full-scale retrospective of the work of Dawoud Bey (Winter 2020).
