I create alternative landscapes to enter and escape into within the familiarity of my home. Using light and a reflective emergency blanket I hope to express the drastic shift in emotions each day holds, and conjure alternative realities for the future. I consider our human relationship with the landscape and the power and resilience of nature. Despite the repetitive nature of my lived experience over the past few months, each day and each week has felt drastically different emotionally, some days rooted in fury and frustration, other days feeling hopeful for a brighter future. By mimicking Earth’s landscape I am both humbled by the failure to resemble reality, and in awe of the possibility of expanding mental space through these imagined, exaggerated, or extra-terrestrial worlds.
